Sata Kyoya is such a shitty character. He expects Shinohara Erika just to put up with his toxic mentality because she is indebted to him?? wtf and apparently falls for her, but still behaves almost the same??
First of all, Erika needs tp be more confident. I get that teenagers are self conscious and wanna fit in but this anime is literally portraying that lying to people so that you can fit in with them is good because the lie will eventually turn into the truth. Idk, maybe its because it's an anime.
I honestly hate romance anime where the FL doesn't have a strong will of her own.
And even if she doesn't, yk, the author could really put some sense into them. for e.g Haru Matsu Bokura. The FL--> Mitsuki is also self conscious but she is not dumb and knows her worth to an extent.
Erika's character is so poorly written and it portrays high school girls who are self conscious in the worst manner. She literally falls for his toxic behavior?? pls. the guy whose one eye was covered was so much better.
Second, is our 'sadist' ML, Sata Kyoya. He has some manners at least to show the behaviour of prince to people. His whole character is based off his ego and cockiness. I also hated how he continuously treated erika like an object?? AND WHAT ANNOYED ME MORE WAS HOW ERIKA EVEN ACCEPTED BEING TREATED LIKE THAT???!! the one time she understood her worth was when she splashed water on him.
this ML is so toxic he literally gaslights her. She's not stupid to think she likes you. She knows she liks you thats why she confessed. you cant decide whether she likes you or not just cuz yall are fake dating. you're not her consciuous.
there was also another time where she had an argument with Kyoya (the ep where they go on a date for the first time) but she GASLIT HERSELF. OF COURSE SHE'S ALLOWED TO GET MAD AT HIM IF HE'S BEING A POS. AND SHE LITERALLY CALLED HIM UP APOLOGIZING SAYING SHE OVERREACTED OR WHATEVER. URGH
another time was when his friend takeru lied about his feelings for erika but kyoya literally treated her like an object (nothing new there i suppose) and when she ran away crying (cuz she liked him) he expected her to just come back and she actually did?!
also the line
"I''ll decide when i want to fall for her" is not charming in that situation??? like...no.
The only normal character in this entire series is San-Chan. She is not stupid.
TLDR: This show is the definition of a toxic relationship. You need to know your boundaries (this goes to both erika and kyoya) and your self worth. Enduring toxic behavior is not love. Dont romanticize or glorify that shit.
