Most of the other characters are not that well written either, with their motivations and allegiances randomly changing from one episode to the next. Nevertheless, you can not help but feel empathy for the two female main characters Katsura and Sekai who are really done dirty in different ways.
The best thing about this anime in my opinion is the ending - it kinda rewards you for all that hate you collected towards Makoto and leaves your sense of justice more or less justified.
However, it could have been executed a lot better if either Katsura or Sekai had developed their yandere-characteristics earlier on and already shed blood before... it would have really helped to prevent the stagnant feeling you get from episode 6 or so onwards.
