There are some powerful sub-plots. Domestic abuse, abuse of power, rape.. But when it came time to reveal the finale, it was.. limp.
It's strange how a show that rather deftly handled an awful molestation scene, infanticide, body horror, (amongst others) can't step beyond mental health stereotypes from the 80s.
It reminds me of NGE in many respects, but I feel like the overwhelming sexualisation and the utter lack of a worthy ending undermines any appreciation I could draw from it.
PROTIP:
I suggest you stop watching after Director Kurama's last scene on the show, and allow your imagination to finish the story for you. I'm sure you'll be annoyed, but I promise you - it's a blessing I give to you.
