Preliminary (193/? chp)
Try my best to not spoil everything, but if it helps me bring out my point, can't help it sorry.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu is stupid...LY fun manga to read through and through. Some will say you have read this before, but to me who enjoys and respects a lot of genres in all sorts of media, even if it is stupid or the same as the last series I read, I always or at least will look for to find something new

Story: 7

Right off the bat, I already feel conflicted about this manga, because the story is fun to go through, they checked off everything in the list of what needs to be in a romance series in order to proceed, which I am fine with. Onsen, checked! Aquarium, checked! Emotional scenes, checked! It is like... what an ideal romcom should be if all your favourite books and shows mixed together and created this series. But this is where this manga puts me off sometimes, because the writer tries to create an ideal romance series, but the conflict and the antagonist of the story stays the same, to the point that a very clear picture could be drawn: There's 2 lines, one representing the character progression (Will name it "CP"), the other representing events happening in the story (Will name it "EVE"). Both lines are horizontally moving in the same direction at the same time, but while CP moves in a straight line, EVE moves up and down rapidly like a roller coaster. This makes the story, although fun to read, feels like it should have ended long ago or the other way, going very slow.

In regards to realism which I heard my friends criticized this series for, my response is that this genre of romance don't need to be realistic, it just needs to be fun. I am not reading Kanojo, Okarishimasu to learn how to date someone or handle relationships, I am treating it as an entertainment, which I also cringed from time to time when I think about the real-life consequences if the events in this book actually happened, but enough ranting, moving on...

Art: 8

I like it, the transition between the goofy version of each character to their serious version or their more appealing version is comfortable to look at, nothing too out of place, or you don't understand why the illustrator would draw that there.

Character: 6

This is where the rating dives down a bit, because even thought I can sympathize with all the characters or in some way relates to them, it is inconsistence how much attention each of them gets. The main character feels like a immature loser in the beginning who along with story, slows grows, but again, slow. So if you can't stand him throughout half of the series, you will just groan and say: "If you are honest, all the conflicts will already be resolved."

The main female character is the type that puts on a social mask to hide her true self in order to chase her dream. She tries to show her true self to people and the MC, but because of her dream, the personal traits acquired from it hinders it.

There is a secondary main character (Hard to understand, I know), who serves basically as a love rival. Although she works the hardest to gain MC's affection, personally I sympathize with her while hating her. Because nothing irks me more than seeing people worked so hard to gain affection while knowing that they will never have it, and continue doing it will only makes you a villain in other people's eyes.

There is an antagonist in this story, she is basically a sadistic bitch that tries to ruin everything, or that one girlfriend who tries to accuse you of rape because you break up with her. Up until the volume I read, I still don't get a back story as to why she does the things she does, but I hope to learn the intention in future volumes.

Lastly, a quite type. She gets more character development in her spin-off by the same writer. She is relatable in a way that we always dream of the best version of ourselves only to find out that we are too embarrassed to act out that way, but always trying and even making some progress sometimes. In the story, she is always the emotional support to the MC. So, yeah, she's cool, keep on!

Oh, right... The grandmas are cool, they will whoop MC's ass, but they are cool.

Enjoyment: 7

As I said and mentioned, even though there are holes in the story and the character development are inconsistent, the flow is good most of the time, the good part is that you are guaranteed to get some character development in each volume, the bad is that those character development will sometime stop dead because something happens, hence the roller coaster I mentioned earlier in my review.

Overall: 7

I love this series. Because it is a fun mix of everything you love from stupid romantic comedy that is 99.9% unrealistic, and properly make you cringe from time to time. The art is awesome, the character development is inconsistent, but at least the writer did not give up on the main cast of characters. The flow is good but not perfect. That's why for me, it is an overall 7. "Stupid, but lovable."
