JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's mangaka Hirohiko Araki is great when it comes down to character, dialogue, art, themes, tone, etc. and when it all comes neatly together within a greater narrative you get the well acclaimed masterpiece Part 7 - Steel Ball Run.

Part 8 is not Part 7

I would say that all arcs within JoJolion are very solid on their own, often great to incredible even, while Part 8 as a whole is messy. The struggle within JoJolion comes from the fact that as the reader you have to come to your own conclusions/interpretations and have to finish the puzzle yourself, while at the same time being handed puzzle pieces that sometimes don't fit together or anywhere at all.
However, this confused fragmented paradoxical sense of being seems to lie near the thematic core of JoJolion itself, making it feel akin to an art film.

Part 8 is the most unconventional part yet and it works in its favour. JoJolion will rarely go where you expect it to go and even though it's the longest part yet; I've personally found it reads the quickest. Once you start getting into it JoJolion reads like butter.

The characters are great, the art is amazing, the stand fights are clever, weird & terrifying and the emotional rollercoaster hits hard.

Don't go in expecting another Golden Wind, Stone Ocean or Steel Ball Run.

Go in expecting JoJolion.
