I'm not an anime-junkie as much as I'm an animation enthusiast. (Pretentious words, but I believe it gets across what sort of an anime viewer I am.) For the rest I'll let my reviews and rankings do the talking. However, I will provide some insight into my way of ranking.
"6/10" or lower
Criticisms and negative opinions are often more specific than positive impressions, so what for me personally seperates a 6 or lower from a 7 or higher is that I have no intention to ever rewatch a film, manga or anime I've rated a 6 or lower out of 10. What seperates a 6 from a 5 however, is that at the end of having experienced a 6/10 I wouldn't consider it having been a waste of time and I might even recommend it to someone if I thought they were the right person for it.
"7/10"
These are the ones I enjoyed. Flawed, sometimes heavily so in some places, but overall a worthwhile experience. For me they all ooze: "My food's ready and I need something to watch."
"8/10"
For me personally these are high quality pieces of work and they're also the ones I recommend to people. They're not just good, they're really good and I often find myself thinking and talking about them for years.
"9/10"
These are all 8/10's that just tickled me in all the right ways. All ratings are subjective, but this is where I really start to head into preferences; whether it's music, performances, plot progression, artistic decisions, thematic integration, pacing, ... it all just clicks.
"10/10"
Nothing is perfect, however these are the 9/10's that I can't help but put on a pedestal and have me fall in love with them all over again with every viewing/reading. They almost seem to transcend my opinion on them, which is why they get their 10/10.
