Your enjoyment of this anime will depend on how far you are willing to suspend your own disbelief. As someone who would gladly escape the real world for anime, I thoroughly engaged with C's fictional economics. Now, if only real life were as simple as blowing up your rival entrepreneurs with giant laser beams.

Let me start with the fight scenes. They are sometimes too short, but always feature fluid and detailed animation. You will get your freaking laser beams of death. In addition, a good quantity of blood gets spurted, so make sure you're ready for some gory action. The main problem is, to reiterate, the fight scenes are too short. One fight scene even ends halfway, and the viewers never get to see the outcome. Way to skimp your fanbase!

Still, the art is decent. Not too extravagant or colorful, and a little bit shady.

The weakest point of this anime is probably character development. Kimimaro, the main character, has none of it. Mikuni, the main antagonist, has none either. Mashu, Kimimaro's fighting "asset", becomes a little bit more human, but not really. If these people weren't blasting themselves half to death with cute little girls, I wouldn't have been able to forgive such pathetically written characters.

Luckily, the overarching story makes up for character deficiencies. While simplistic, C deals with the monetary debate between present and future. Should we give money to those who need in the present, or save up money for a better future? An interesting question to ask, and many of the entrepreneurs give different responses based on their experiences. And while they engage each other in deadly duels, their actions have negative consequences on the real world. You can't help but feel very sorry as the stories of those affected by greedy entrepreneurs are fleshed out in full detail. With both philosophical and emotional elements, the story of C should be enough to satisfy most viewers.

Unfortunately, the ending sucks. Enjoy the anime!
