It started really well. I thought it was going to be an anime about going out of your comfort zone, doing things instead of regretting them. Putting yourself out there, taking risk, being kind, caring for others. I thought I was going to follow a cute relationship between a cute dark sasuke that the cute girl has to save (I'm sorry but I like that kind of thing, we all have fucked up fantasy). Well, it wasn't.

I feel like the lesson is "you have to go far and beyond to save a suicidal person, it's extremely hard, and you need someone from the future telling you how to do it or else you can't". It's completely false. I'm not sure how to word this better, but you have to be VERY DEEP to kill yourself, most people actually live miserable lonely lives, and don't kill themselves. Suicide is awful. It means that there is so much suffering and loneliness behind. It's understandable in the first world, but the second world was SO MUCH different after the 5th episode.

After the competition episode, it should have been considered that Kakeru is safe. He has great supportive friends that told him they'll always be there for him, he has a cute loving girlfriend, he has his grandmother, and toxic people are out of his life. Sure, he should keep struggling with the death of his mom, but suicide should be way out of his mind by then. So the rest of the anime should have been about the cute relationship, and not about desperatly struggling again and again to help someone. I feel like this ends up being a pretty awful lesson.

Care for others. It's hard sometimes, but it's very grateful, and it's definitely not that difficult. And it might save people. Be kind. Look out for your friends. Take care of them. It's not as difficult as the anime says, and it does a lot.

After the school competition episode, it really goes out of line, and it feels like the characters are deeply unrealistic. They're often ganging on him, and honestly if I was him I would be upset (that my gf told everyone about my dead mother without my consent) and possibly scared because that's just too much.

Also Suwa ends up being the best character in the series, real husbando, but deeply unrealistic. Nobody, especially not a 17 years old, would give up his life like that for someone else.
And at some point, when Kakeru started being super mean toward Naru for no reason, I just started thinking "ok stop, you don't have to waste all your life and cry constantly because of him, just let him die at this point this is insane" which was an awful thought, but the anime just makes it so painful.

It could have been great, it started amazing, I absolutely loved the scene at the beginning where Naru is hesitating about making the bento, and she shares the same thought process as her mother. That was the peak of this anime, very realistic and great lesson. But then it got annoying.

7/10 because the animation is bad, and I never really got my cute Sasuke x shy mommy relationship. But the beginning was great, at least. Good anime, but disappointing.
