A repetitive, predictable, and uninteresting season. Endless fights with literally no stakes. Extremely boring characters who add next to nothing to the plot. Most of them are clichés with a colorful touch.
90% of this season is just characters fighting and learning nothing, always "going above their limits" (but they actually have literally no limit). Where is the story? A 10-minute backstory, very similar to the one of absolutely every demon slayer out there, is just extremely boring: "I had a tough life and then a demon [almost] killed my family, so now I kill them back".

It started really well. I thought it was going to be an anime about going out of your comfort zone, doing things instead of regretting them. Putting yourself out there, taking risk, being kind, caring for others. I thought I was going to follow a cute relationship between a cute dark sasuke that the cute girl has to save (I'm sorry but I like that kind of thing, we all have fucked up fantasy). Well, it wasn't.
I feel like the lesson is "you have to go far and beyond to save a suicidal person, it's extremely hard, and you need someone from the future ...

I am absolutely tired and disgusted by the constant pedophilia, and lame jokes, and the obsession with harem and rape. The first girl was 6 and they keep talking about sex to an 8 years old kid. He's a kid he hasn't hit puberty yet he doesn't even have functioning reproductive organs, nether do the girls, their brains don't even think about it because they don't have hormones. I came for Kuro the sociopath and action, and got an annoying Loli. This show is a wannabe professor Layton, wannabe Sakura card captor, but doesn't provide an interesting narrative for the investigations nor cute & fun action.
The characters spend SO MUCH time talking just to say nothing, with the exact same tone. It's incredibly boring. But the art is pretty good, and the characters (when they aren't just talking and talking) are really cute and interesting. This anime is specifically targetting nazis and pedophiles, it's insane.
There are literally two "women" in the entire armies, they're of course the main characters (even though we never really learn the name of the constantly dumbfounded one), and one of them is 9 years old. And everyone is perfectly ok with that. There are just no characters other than Tanya the sociopath. It's just people around "her". Kinda disappointing, pretty overrated.
You can't pretend to do an anime about science and then have such huge plot holes and lack of logic in the story so often. It's just ridiculously upsetting. Just the most basic fact: the story of how the village has been created is clearly scientifically impossible. And it's like that all the time throughout the anime. Character's reactions often lack basic logic, and why do they have to describe and comment everything everyone does, even the most basic things? Apart from that, the character development is pretty good, and all the adventure and discovery parts are interesting. It's just really ...

Very cute fairytale.
Some plotholes there and then, but hey, it doesn't pretend to be all smart and accurate, it feels like a good Disney story but Japanese version. Characters aren't that interesting, kinda boring and absurd in their decision making sometimes, but it really feels like you're here for the story and the world, so that's okay. The plot twists are very cute and well thought and they make it all worth it. Very cute animation, cute and smart fairy tale, cute world that you kinda wish you could be a part of. Overall pretty easy but very pleasant to watch. |
