Dragon ball z is the best spiritual successor to the original dragon ball, it has made numerous improvements but also quite some mistakes, concerns i will talk about in this review.

Story: 9/10 (minor spoilers)
This anime has one of the most iconic story-lines and storytelling imaginable, the first arc the sayain saga just shows how much of a threat the new antagonists will be in the future and how futile the z-warriors are now against these new threats. for example Yamcha who was arguably one of the coolest characters in the original DB gets dropped by a fucking seed, Chiaotzu kills him self for no effect on Nappa, Tien loses an arm, Piccolo sacrifices himself for Gohan, krillin gets dropped in a split second and master Roshi doesn't even wanna interfere. Of course goku comes in after coming back from the dead after his training with king kai and obtaining a new found power: the Kaioken and saves his friends after a very iconic fight that jump-starts the rivalry between Goku and Vegeta. The Namek/freeza saga is almost structurally the same except from the new Kaioken form and the Piccolo fusion, and of course my favorite moment in all of DBZ is the death of a dear friend and the SSJ transformation the amount of chills i had watching this as a little snot nosed toddler is unimaginable I've never felt anything like it before, although the frieza fight was quite comical it shows some very serious tones Second to last is the Cell saga with arguably the best villain and ending: It shows the most prominent transformation that Gohan was lacking in the past it shows trunks a Character that has a very upsetting life in his future and the return of Mr.hairline himself vegeta, this arc goes very swimmingly and smoothly the villains are quite unique with villain infighting and and ending that was very upsetting and probably brought tears to little kids eyes. the Boo arc is where it kinda goes downhill: Goku screaming for 3 episodes SSJ3 as a whole thing and the uselessness of the z-fighter that aren't men with spiky yellow hair that scream. Although Maijin Vegeta and his sacrifice is very emotional a worthy redemption not wasted on a very bad character, Gohan gets even stronger with his "ultimate" form and the notorious Vegito this arc does have the best villain in buu and his many forms: he sums up the title "The good, the bad and the ugly." as a unique feature he does succeed in his goals or at least in the goals of many anime villains which is destroying the world and its people. But this is where the best thing is the man that saves THIS ENTIRE ARC from buu is hercule the man the mith the legend he is the reason for victory.
But that is the end of the Z story line if you do watch it some plot points are really barely on life support which does upset many fans.

Art 10/10
This is a very unique classical old-school art-style and it ages very well, timeless even animation is very consistent over the whole time with some mediocre jobs never dropping towards early DBS levels bad i can say it is just timeless and nostalgic.

characters 10/10
the characters are very well done some die down rapidly E.G. yamcha but even the new characters like trunks, vegeta, gohan are very well done but there isn't really development all too many times but when it does happen its mostly emotional and very touching.

sound 9/10
the sound is the tricky part both the sub and dub are very good some people might prefer the other and ive seen both and still i cannot decide which is better they are both extremely well voice acted and sound effects are unique but many times re-used for imaginable budget purposes.

enjoyment 10/10
This show is timeless if you watched it as a kid you'll never forget the experience until death neither if you start at this point in time when reading this it's just a very lovable laid back shonen that is exiting and enjoyable to many levels.

overall 10/10
as much as i'am a fanboy i will never ever not enjoy this show i recommend it to many people that prefer the old gen to the newer gen anime and if you do enjoy the newer generation you'll most definitely enjoy this show for its mindless but sometimes meaningful fighting that has consistent animation quality.

That's it for that review i hope it makes you watch the show and i hope you will enjoy it if you do so.
