When I read a synopsis for "Cowboy Bebop" learning that it was about bounty hunters wandering in space in hunger and desperation, looking for criminals to regain money, I pictured something a little inane.

Cowboy Bebop is actually a luxurious little comedy-drama masterpiece about the pain of being poor and out-of-luck, especially for an adult who considers his life to be a nightmare or a dream that he can never wake up from. Spike is not only a troublemaker, he's tired, hungry and feeling a bit hopeless for money. An ex-cop (in which he considers his partner) reintroduces him to new characters, a gambler, a hyperactive genius smart aleck and a super-intelligent dog as they attempt to help collect criminals for money to make his life easier. Not to mention, he cares for him and even his new friends a lot.

Anime featuring characters jumping into the anime every few episodes take a lot of money to produce and usually work if the build-up depending on the synopsis is correct. Anime these days usually introduces us to new characters maybe once in a few episodes but usually around the first episodes. Well, here, it's done tastefully and emotionally. It's really good to see Ein, the dog come first as the new character in the series in which everyone seems to like, Faye, a selfish woman who is sometimes criticized and sometimes praised, for liking the character, Spike Spiegel. And then there's Edward, she comes in a while in which everyone describes as cute and fun or sometimes thinks that she could be annoying sometimes.

Towards the end of the series, I started bawling my eyes out because some of the characters start having more and more problems depending on their lives and they must face it... it's gone. Anime about the anime are usually a little coy, but "Cowboy Bebop" is an exception. With its film-noir characters, it understands the bounty hunting or desperation world and is quite wise about poor or ghetto people live off-screen.
