VAGUE SPOILERS (in terms of what direction this anime is going)

I literally just finished this so I'm just going to state some quick initial thoughts while its's still fresh:

I'm somewhat new to rom com anime so I didn't necessarily compare this to any other show out there. All that being said, considering that I finished this in a matter of 2 days should signify how much I enjoyed this show. My level of intrigue never faltered and it was too easy for me to continue to the next episode. One of the biggest positives I can give is that they keep the cast relatively confined and the focus of the show never really wavers. This is also true for the plot as each episode is an episodic comedy but obviously under the umbrella of the romantic overarching plot that we are aware of. I'll also mention that I first I didn't like the fact that a few of the sisters held a grudge against our main character, Fuutarou Uesugi, for a substantial period of time especially when I initially felt that one of their reasons for it was futile and almost childish. But then I came to realize their initial reluctance served as a big part of the conflict of this show and without it, everything would be way too smooth sailing and the desire for watching more would diminish.

Now one negative I would state about the first season however is the distribution of time that we get to see between Uesugi and the state of his relationship between each individual girl. In the first episode, we are quickly informed that our main character ends up marrying one of these girls so one of the biggest draws for me to stay on this show is to see if I could figure out which one is more likely to be that future bride (as well as pick my personal favorites which would have to be Miku and Yotsuba). But some girl(s) get more shine and time than others and although by the 12th episode the show tries to keep it ambiguous on who ends up being that bride, it almost no contest as to which of the girls makes the most sense for our bright but oblivious student tutor to end up with, to the point where it's nearly objective. Luckily despite all this, Uesugi being Uesugi leaves the door open for everyone so this anime still has time to evenly display each girls "case" in the near future.

All and all, my enjoyment for this series was well satisfied and although this season didn't necessarily end with a cliff hanger there are still some small affairs that definitely have to be handled and will most likely continue to be addressed in the upcoming season. If you are looking for a brief anime with a socially awkward yet confident boy being whipped around by 5 close knit quintuplets that differ in personality as well as how and why they feel the way they feel about him then I suggest you check this out!
