Code Geass R2 is a continuation of Code Geass and a step up from Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist - with improvements in characters and one of the best endings of all time - though some may consider it cliche it is quite moving and is the defining moment of Lelouch and the show itself.
The array of plot twists from the betrayal of Lelouch's sister to his ultimate rise to power, the power struggle between him and his brother and the killer conclusion - It is all you could ask for. The ending sums up the entire story and utilizes one of the greatest aspects of life - sacrafice.
There is a love hate relationship between all the characters, but perhaps the most controversial character is Lelouch lays the foundation for his exit from the center of the world. Unlike many stories with perfect predictable endings - R2 shakes it up and throws a dagger at you heart. The constant ups and downs is a great aspect that adds depth to Lelouch's persona.
The animation is phenomenal. Especially C.C's flashbacks. The fight scenes were flawless, the camera angles and panoramas takes the animation to another level.
Overall, if you havent watch it, then it is something you need to do. If your a fullmetal alchemist, death note, or even Gundam fan you'll absolutely fall in love with Code Geass. However do remember this is the second season.
