I started the series after watching a YouTube Review which mentioned the series. I started the series expecting that it was going to be a 7 or maybe an 8 with some clean & colourful designs & animation from Kyoto Animation meriting a fairly good score just from the look of the trailers. However seeing the zany title animations and catchy OP I was immediately reminded of the venerable Magical Girlfriend Anime classic 'Urusei Yatsura' which I have also been watching recently and getting into this series couldn't help but see parallels between Lum and Tooru and their respective sets of friends. But parallels aside, Dragon Maid shines on it's own merits with a wonderful balancing of comedic and dramatic/romantic elements, the pacing is well done and even self-admitted (by producers in the titles no less!) filler episodes were fun and flowed with more story arc related episodes seamlessly. Like many others who were charmed by 'Dragon Maid' and KyoAni's brilliant adaptation, I would love to see Season 2 get made, Kobayashi & Tooru are a sweet couple I would like to see more of!
