Honestly, if you can get past the first hunk of the first episode, which makes this look more like some fantasy anime than a slice-of-life comedy, then it has you and you'll want to watch the whole thing.

I love the characters here, and I love how they all develop, too- though the number of times I wanted to smack Maou upside the head because he's completely oblivious to the fact Chiho has it bad for him is very high, and I wish it didn't take so long for Emi to loosen the heck up once she sees Maou (Satan) is happy in his new life and new role- so much that he doesn't want to go back to his old one like everyone is fearing. Sometimes it's just the little things that help you feel fulfilled.

The voice work is really top-notch, and the music just is perfect. It's not too loud, or too soft, and it helps fit the scenes together very, very well. The animation- there are a few spots that need a touchup or that just look like crap, but for the most part, it's actually very, very good.

If you're looking for an anime you can binge in a day or two, this is one that's a really good candidate. But that ending... ugh. It's obvious they're hoping the second season ends up translated or animated someday, because that's not satisfying at all- but the rest of this anime goes down like a wonderfully-tasty fast food sandwich.
