This anime is based off a browser game, and as such, having a good, working knowledge of said game will help you enjoy the anime- you'll know about the characters, the story, and pretty much make your enjoyment that much better... the problem is, though, said game is a) an internet browser card game, and b) only available in Japanese.
Yes, I know there are wikis and things that talk about the characters, but honestly, it's a 13-episode anime that you could binge in a weekday if you so wanted. It's just... even a little hint of what was going on would be appreciated, instead of

just having to dig up everything on our own. It's why Pokemon was so successful in getting popular over here- because you could watch a few episodes and understand what was going on, instead of just going "Okay, who is this guy... and who are they... and why are they traveling through time?" Granted, you learn a little bit, but still, it leaves more questions than answers- I think this is aimed at the people who already have a good background in the game.
I'll give this one props on how pretty it looks- it is pretty visually appealing. But also, well... that's the only thing it has going for it. It looks good, but everything else... eh.
If you're a fan of the game, you'll get more out of it, but if you're just binging it out of boredom and wanting to try something new, well... you're not going to get all that much out of it. I mean, there's worse out there, but not all that much.

This is one widely considered a classic- back from the dark ages of the late 1980s- but watching it some 30 years later, you can see that parts of it just haven't really stood up to time all that well.
The animation and sound is where it really, really suffers. As good as the story and characters are, you just know you're watching something that's 31 years old now- and just like how movies from back then have that look about them, so the cracks are starting to show in Vampire Princess Miyu.

amazing, and she's obviously that shade of gray between the evil Shinma and humanity- but Himiko's black-and-white mentality just gets to be frustrating, sometimes. I understand that she's dealing with the human side of things, but you'd think maybe she could just hear Miku out once or twice- and maybe the hint that she hasn't gone on a blood-fueled killing spree would convince her...?
But the animation and sound have just not aged well, if at all. I want to like this. But it needs a remaster, and a re-animation very, VERY badly. The voices aren't clear, the animation just looks aged and terrible compared to other titles, and while I do suggest you watch this once, because it deserves at least a single watch, you won't want to give it more than that.
Others have called it "Vampire X-Files", and I agree- but seeing as how it's four episodes long, well, it's one decent and three crappy episodes of Vampire X-Files. It's good for a bite-sized binge if you want- you could binge it in an afternoon in less than two hours.
Just because it's a classic doesn't mean it's worth watching more than once.

Honestly, if you can get past the first hunk of the first episode, which makes this look more like some fantasy anime than a slice-of-life comedy, then it has you and you'll want to watch the whole thing.
I love the characters here, and I love how they all develop, too- though the number of times I wanted to smack Maou upside the head because he's completely oblivious to the fact Chiho has it bad for him is very high, and I wish it didn't take so long for Emi to loosen the heck up once she sees Maou (Satan) is happy in his new life
...
and new role- so much that he doesn't want to go back to his old one like everyone is fearing. Sometimes it's just the little things that help you feel fulfilled.
The voice work is really top-notch, and the music just is perfect. It's not too loud, or too soft, and it helps fit the scenes together very, very well. The animation- there are a few spots that need a touchup or that just look like crap, but for the most part, it's actually very, very good.
If you're looking for an anime you can binge in a day or two, this is one that's a really good candidate. But that ending... ugh. It's obvious they're hoping the second season ends up translated or animated someday, because that's not satisfying at all- but the rest of this anime goes down like a wonderfully-tasty fast food sandwich.

You remember the late 80s-early 90s era of anime- it was first catching hold over here in the States, and they were putting everything they could get the rights to on tape and sold for $30 a shot. This, well... is one of those titles that should have been skipped.
It's just... terrible bad. You can tell it's early anime- the voicework is crap, the animation isn't really worth anything, and the music just seems to fade in and out.
It's pretty much just your bog-standard space-monster story- alien bacteria infiltrate a colony ship and end up eating 90% of the crew, starting with a pet
...
cat that was brought onboard. In a fairly cringeworthy moment, you get to see the cat ripped apart and dragged through a hole in the wall while its owner watches and shrieks.
I'm not going to lie-after this crapfest was over, I spent some good quality time with my cat- and lamented the hour I just spent watching this horrible piece of trash and cleansed my palate with loads of funny cat videos to get the thought of this movie out of my head.
Lots of your characters are national stereotypes- the obviously American member of the crew is a musclebound jerk who carries a gun everywhere, for example.
If you absolutely have to watch this, at least it's only an hour, and then you can move on with your life and watch something else more worth your time.

This one isn't really that bad. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think Cecily's kind of cute (and yes, I ship her with Aria instead of that tool Luke), but again, it's just not very memorable.
I mean, the anime goes through great pains to show how brave and strong Cecily is, and then it sacrifices all the progress for a cheapo ecchi moment when her breastplate falls off after she taps it. Just... there's a time and a place for that kind of thing, but undercutting your MC's kick-ass moment isn't one of them.

he needs to grow up- and let's face it, he's obviously more interested in Lisa than Cecily. It's just...
It's an okay watch. But that's all it really is. If you just want a nice fantasy romp, it can be that, if you're just looking for something quick to pass the time, it's only 12 episodes long.

I recently gave this one a re-watch over a couple days, and, well... it's okay-ish.
Honestly, though, it just falls into the same trap of just being another not very memorable shoujo anime, in the end.
Nanami is actually pretty tolerable for a main character- she doesn't fall to pieces without her love interest around, and once she gets her feet under her, she's actually pretty capable.
Her LI familiar is okay-looking, I guess, but he slowly warms to her over the series, and the rest of the characters seem to fit in well- even if they aren't very memorable, either.

really nice, if just a tad donr-to-death. While the supernatural aspect sets this one apart slightly, it's really just "shoujo harem anime #8364 but with yokai".
If you're looking for a fun, easy watch to kill a few hours, I'd say it's not a bad selection- there are better, too, but there are still plenty worse!

Honestly, the first thing that came to mind watching this series was, well... the influx of cheap licensed cartoons that flooded the U.S. in the early 80s, like G.I. Joe, My Little Pony, Transformers... mostly in the fact that this series was made, pretty much, just to sell the game and get more people to download it.
The plot is pretty darn generic- pretty much Unassuming Local Bumpkin gets invited into this whole creepy underworld of Ingress, where he meets Plucky Blonde Love Interest who has some reason why Generic Evil Bunch is chasing her. Along the way, he has to fend off Tsundere

Frenemy Guy from the opposite faction, who is out for his own ends and decides to kill Unassuming Local Bumpkin because he's the opposite faction, even while on the lookout for his Long-Lost Bestie, who died in an accident that Plucky Blonde Love Interest was at. Lots of other things happen, but honestly... it ends exactly like you think it might. Why is that a bad thing? Because this plot has been done to death in so many other anime out there- in most cases, even better than it is here. There's mentions of the various factions and item names and things from Ingress: The Game, and truly a fan of the game might understand more of what's going on. But honestly? Like I said, switch around the words and the visuals, and this plot could be from any number of tie-in anime.
The characters... are just as bad as the plot. I mean, let's face it- you read the descriptions above and you could put faces to those descriptions just by watching one episode, because the characters are all just... flat. They're desires given form, if you will- because they don't grow. I mean, if there was some sort of growth they could show, some new ideas- but no, they just stay the same people they were in the beginning, and worse- they're just not memorable. You might remember them as the concepts they were supposed to represent, but as themselves, they just... vanish into a sea of faces you'll struggle to remember three days after you finish the series.
The sound is, well... pretty passable. It's nothing really memorable, but there's nothing that will remind you of a symphony orchestra going through a trash compacter, either. The art is the same- it's obvious the focus here was rushing the anime to completion so the show could be used for an advertising ploy to get more people to start playing Ingress. Just treat it like you would eleven episodes of G.I. Joe- maybe entertaining for a short while, but purely made as an advertising method.
In the end, Ingress: the Animation just isn't that memorable or something. If you were to compare it to food, it'd be the bologna sandwich- perfectly filling, perfectly serviceable, but bland and boring as all anything. Everything it does has been done before, and most oftentimes better, but if you absolutely have to, you could do worse than this to watch.
