First, the problem with long-running Shōnen sequel is that people will start bombard it with nostalgia (this better than that) and it's harder to deliver world-buliding/backstory/power system when everything is already established in prequel series, you can't start adding new world rule, hidden villain etc. without breaking through what prequel has established.
Shōnen ending usually ends with world peace or post-war, so there are no real threats to the world, makes daily or non-threatening arc will be present in the sequel.
past casts are currently at their peak in Boruto (and mostly survive the war) so lots of Mary Sue moments and possibility in the future episodes too (if Naruto could save the world from the strongest threat for the last century , what could possibly threat the world in just 14-15 years after??)
the Idea of Boruto being Naruto 2 is a wrong expectation. both has different context (during war timeline vs post-war timeline). People expecting this to be Naruto 2, you could see them bombarding with score: 1 in the review.
Fun fact that Naruto and Shippuden consist of 40% of filler rate (almost half of the whole episodes) so people crying Boruto being a filler-hell (while being 20% rate) are showing the world that they are a clown.
Boruto is a post-war shonen that shows "what happen after Shonen's world peace?". this is a unique perks by itself because very rare for a Shonen series to show this side of story.
You have Naruto formula of casts (and with their respective clan/family) progressing through from academy->genin->chunnin and so on. the difference is that the world is currently at peace.
the story focus on the new casts progression to be a better ninja, NOT ABOUT OLDER CASTS FOR THE SAKE OF NOSTALGIA. Nostalgia exist in Boruto but you will be disappointed if that is your intention. older casts is now supporting casts in Boruto (think all the teacher/early kage in Naruto).
Sarada is 100% better than Sasuke and Sakura in Naruto series.
if you really want to compare, Boruto to Naruto series and not Shippuden.
There is a threat to the world, but in more of unknown way rather than Shinobi war like shippuden.
if you hate filler, you can skip filler episode/arc, or even anime canon and stick to the manga canon arc instead.
if you expect Naruto2 then don't watch this because they both have really different starting circumstances and plot-idea (even when most casts use same formula from Naruto).
