Preliminary (11/16 eps)
SPOILERS AHEAD!

Breakers introduces us to diverse disabled athletes and the sports they rigorously partake in. Each arc (about 3-4 episodes) revolves around one particular sport and it shows us the athlete's ups and downs of both practice and competition.

My favorite arc so far revolves around Goalball which is basically where each player (3 per team) has to wear this special eyewear that completely blinds them. So despite their vision (be it good or bad) everyone is on the same playing field. The name of the game is to track down a ball with bells in it that is thrown by the enemy player in hopes of reaching the other's net. The players then use their body to stop, said ball, but in doing so they have to really keep a keen ear out for those bells.

I never knew this kinda sport even existed and I'm SO EXCITED!!! As someone who is visually impaired to the point of needing different kinds of help and aids through my daily life, I was so happy to just know that sport on that kind of equal playing field existed! And also to see a character use a magnifying glass to read (which despite my glasses, boi howdy do I need it), it just made me feel...happy. Less embarrassed about having to do so, I guess. lolol

So honestly, it took me a while to come around...but I can definitely see how this show can help people of all kinds! I wish certain aspects could have been done differently and we could receive more interviews from real players in the future...but overall I think its a good first step in an area we never see in anime.
