It’s a sad series, but I think they needed more time or a different ending. I don’t like the ending personally, it’s the edition of a threat that doesn’t need to exist. Although, the characters and overall story was fun and interesting, I’m disappointed in the last 3 episodes.

Story – 5
I’m going to give this a 5, although the last 3 episodes ruined the over-arching plot. The route of the shadow monsters is stupid; they don’t need this threat to continue the story. In my opinion they should have ran with a plot to help everyone overcome and feel fulfilled, but this is ruined with little problems that leave a bad feeling in your stomach.

I like the way that Yui went, I wish I could say the same for the rest of the characters. The graduation ceremony was nice, it felt good to see the main cast go. However that final scene with Otonashi and the Tenshi at the very end is pointless, they ruined Otonashi with the inclusion of his helping hand cliché.

Art- 6
It’s nice, the colours are great and the fight scenes are fluid, but it’s not phenomenal. I didn’t like the addition of the slides that told the location of the characters, it ruined the immersion in some scenes.

Sound – 4
Nah, the OP is ok, but the ED is better. I don’t like the background music, mainly because it overpowers a lot of the tenser scenes.

Character – 5
I felt for a lot of these characters (mainly Yui), but the story drops them off at the wrong station.
Otonashi, good guy, not very well executed. He feels to forced and always being the goody too-shoes is over bearing at times.
Yuri is good, although she had a real back seat in this series. I want to see more of her.
Hinata yet again took a real back seat. He’s funny, but out of place in a lot of scenes.
Kanade is my second favourite character, she has a complete ark that’s ‘fulfilling’ and tasteful, would have liked more character building though.
Yui is the best part of this series, she is the example of the best ending for this series. she should have been the blueprint for the last 3 episodes.

Overall – 5
Come on, why did it turn out this way. Episode 10 left on such a strong note, Yui’s ark is the only one that feels complete. The addition of the shadow monsters is dumb and pointless, there’s no need too. Overall, I would recommend it, but stop at episode 10. It’s not much better from there.
