Okay, so... I'm not sure how I feel about this movie. I guess I'll just jump in and see what comes out.

So, this story is a lovely tale about a girl befriending a spirit in the forest, and every summer she returns to visit him. The concept of this, obviously, intrigued me a lot. It reminded me of Natsume's Book of Friends, which is probably in my top 20 anime. The art was similar as well, so I enjoyed that aspect of it a lot.

Character-wise, I thought it was nice that the story only had a few characters in it. It made it feel like I, as the viewer, could escape into the world of spirits with them. The main characters themselves were so fun and enjoyable to watch. The personalities that were written for them blended together very nicely.

Of course, though, the story itself is where most people will find a reason to love this film. It's one of those stories that has a definite ending and a journey without any twists and turns. This film had a story to tell, and it told it, no extra plot devices needed. It made everything seem very pure and finite, and that was an interesting feeling to experience. Towards the end, everything came to a close rather quickly, so I do wish the story had been able to expand out a little more in some areas, but then again, I can't think of a way it could've been expanded.

This story didn't blow me away, if I'm completely honest, but it did make me smile, so it was a worthwhile watch. I hope to find more like this in the future.
