Full disclosure; I tried my best to review this anime as objectively as I could, but there are some aspects of the show that shined so bright it boosted the overall score... When I watched this show, I was told to stick it out until episode 6 or 7 and then if I didn't like what I saw by episode 10 I could stop. Thankfully, I did, but the fact was if I didn't I would have stopped watching at like episode 4. Even though the show is a stretch, the beginning makes your eyes roll every other minute. The dialogue between characters is like it was written for edgy 12 year olds, but gets much less cringey as the season progresses. The entire way the Franxx work is another eye roller... I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go any further about it. But I tell you this, as the season progresses and the characters get to know each other, any young adult can relate to the relationships those characters build. Many different topics are brought up in this coming-of-age story, and I become so attached to the story by the end of the season that yeah, I ended up crying. A lot. Even just hearing the theme song gives me flash backs to a dark time that ending sent me to. Though now that I know what to expect, I would probably rate the show much lower. This is because when I watch a series, I go into it 100% committed to what is being sold to me. I want to give it a shot. You may hear a lot about the ending of this series in these reviews, and a lot of people have mixed feelings. Was it rushed? Yeah... That's about it. It was rushed. Did it stop me from crying like a little girl? No. It didn't. Give it a shot. It's worth it.
