Simply a masterpiece. This film is the second best FILM, not anime, FILM, I have ever seen in my life. Second only to Koe No Katachi. I am a bit disappointed to see so many 8's given to the film in the comments. So, what makes this film so special? Simply put, it is extremely relatable and simplistic. It's not over the top, it doesn't try too hard, it just feels like a genuine examination of life. The film struck a big chord with me as I have lost so many loved ones over the course of the past few years to disease and many suddenly. How the author sets us up for Sakura to die from her pancreatic illness, only to be murdered really stresses the importance of appreciating every day. You never know when your last one will be. Suck all the marrow out of life, every opportunity you have. I can not put into words how much I was crying at the end of this film, genuinely bawling along with Haruki at Sakura's house.

I am slightly disappointed in the fact that we never got to see what became of haruki and kiyoko after they became friends, part of me wishes they ended up together, but then part of me feels that would be in bad tastes. I also wish we got an "I love you" or kiss moment, but then again, if we got stuff like that, that overall feeling of leaving things undone would not be there. Overall, I enjoyed the film a lot and I wish more people would check this film out, but due to the name, a lot of people get put off. I also implore everyone to check out the LN as it is the source material and flushes things out a lot more.
