Story 8/10: The moment I clicked on this doujin I knew what I was coming in for. From the very beginning, the first chapter, I was already engaged with the main character, Saki, and how she tried so desperately to make a friend or find a group that she will feel welcomed. By that point on she meets someone and from then one her life takes a turn really fast. We know see her in many different situations and how she is struggling to get by with her new lifestyle. Towards the end however none of her problems is solved and she loses hope for herself.
Art 9/10: I thought that art style was well drawn. Shindo L did an amazing job capturing every moment and showing that through the emotion he displayed within the main character. I personally think that the art really captured how Saki was feeling. He showed us how he really put time to really give us that uncomfortable feeling with each interaction. The moments where we see Saki being raped and how Shindo drew, I was sitting there amazed and uncomfortable on how real it can be to anyone.
Character 8/10: I was already hooked on Saki the moment I read the first page. We see how she went from being this plain school girl to a girl who's life took on a complete 360. You can even feel the pain that Saki is going through and how naïve she is. I know people will say, "Oh she dumb to even accept that guy," or ," Psssh if I were her I would not even fall for the guy." Note that once Saki decided to change her image and many people started to give a lot of positive comments/feedback, that she never received, made her self-esteem go up by a lot. I know what she did would be stupid, but you have to admit that she got the attention that she never got from and then getting it. Even the side characters is what breaks her down, as we see in the story. Even making them the most hated to treat her poorly and treat as if she's worth nothing. Making them the most hated the more you read.
Enjoyment 9/10: I really enjoyed this story on how messed up it is and how it can happen to anyone in the world. Shindo L really put that in his work by showing how one thing leads to another. Seeing how he portrayed Saki as this shy, insecured gilr who wants to fit in to a girl who finally got the attention to then taking advantage of. Portraying how many girls (even boys) will fall for it, since they probably never experience in their school life. Which made us feel sorry for her the more we read the story. I heard a lot of people saying that it will be devastating to even read or get pass the first chapter, but I went ahead and read it anyway and making me see the final scenes.
Overall 10/10: the story, the character development, the perfect art style to go with the messed up scenes, and the enyoment really gets you thinking on how life can truly be a living nightmare and making you think on how you should be smart with you decisions later in life. Seeing Skai spirling down into madness and her being the best that she can be. Even in the final moments(slight spolier), we see her saying to herself to her now dead unborn child how weak she was and how she cna't the good mother that she wanted to be. Then we are given A scene where we see Saki with her child,Haru. telling her about what she went through. I know people will be fine with that ending, but the truth is that was just a dream on what could've been, but instead she did end up dying righ on the spot. This story really got thinking on the choices that I make in life and how I should really think twice with new people I meet or who I should go to when times get tough. Seeing how Saki didn't have anyone to be there was just devasting and seeing how she just ended up giving up. I would totally redcommend this story to anyone who likes the trains wrecks, the hardcore stuff, and seeing a tradegy of a young youth taking advantage of everything and then seeing her regretting her life decisions.
