Naruto shippuden had great promise but was ultimately let down, let me explain.

Lets start with what Naruto shippuden does well.

Its characters: A diverse and interesting set of characters and while there is a lot it feels like the majority of them get enough screen time and backstory to justify them being there.

The world: Naruto shippudens world is truly something to behold, Just the fact that its a world full of ninjas with different clans is cool enough but its a lot more than just that, As the show grows so does the world and we the viewer slowly starts to grasp just how intricate and mysterious it can be.

Fights: While there are good and bad fights in every shounen for such a long show Naruto does have a consistent amount of good ones, Like other shounens such as Bleach these fights are gripping due to the fact that each ninja and ninja clan have a diverse set of tools and jutsus (techniques/ability's) giving us something new and fresh pretty much every fight.

Moving on to what the show does ok at best.

Animation: Super inconsistent. One episode can look great because they wanted to put a bit more budget into it and then the episode after can look nothing like the last, This can be demoralising and disappointing for a viewer who is expecting consistent animation. The show can look great but only if they want it to which most of the time is not the case as they want to save money.

Sound (OP's/ED's): The openings and ending at the start of the show are a wonder to listen to they really put you in the right mood to enjoy the show no complaints here except for the fact that the openings gradually get a tiny bit worse throughout but that is bound to happen. The problem lies in the sound/music that happens during the episode itself not at the end or start. The music to me is too slow and sombre for what the anime is centered around which is ninjas and keep in mind these are not the type of ninjas who meditate they are the ones who throw goddamn meteors out of the sky (get what i am saying). I am not saying its bad its just ok, average if you will.

Now lets get on to the bad:

The story: The story of Naruto shippuden as a whole is fine in fact i would consider it good as it keeps the viewer watching by slowly revealing more about the world and whats really going on under the surface but its just not enough to save it from the curse that is fillers. 42% of Naruto shippuden is filler , Yes you heard me correct, No i am not memeing 42 goddamn percent , mother of god. Before you go crazy hear me out, While a large portion of Naruto shippuden is filler its not necessarily bad filler and to be honest i think some of the filler is needed as there are so many characters that get their backstory from said fillers, but even with that being said it is just way way too much and unfortunately because of this filler another problem rises from the ground like a weed. With loads of fillers comes pacing issues and these aren't some minor pacing issues because while a lot of fillers are obviously going to be slow paced the fillers actually make the pacing of the non filler episodes suffer aswell, also if you choose to skip fillers you will miss out on a lot of character development and backstory as that is the general use of them in the show, its a lose lose situation. I could rant about this for days but lets leave it there for now.

Now that i have mentioned the good, the ok and the ugly lets move on to.

Overall thoughts:
Naruto shippuden is your classic shounen and because of this it suffers from the classic shounen problems those being terrible pacing and horrendous amounts of filler episodes which hold back what could have been an incredible show thanks to the awesome characters and world, Leaving the show only average towards the end.

If you don't mind slow pacing and a huge amount of filler and give the show a fair shot you may find yourself entranced by Naruto shippuden's character and world building.
