Preliminary (8/12 eps)
this is one of other anime that would make you think
"ah, life really is beautiful.."
it's my second time watching and decided to write my thoughts about this beautiful series~
for me it's not an anime that only make you 'feel something', but also make you want to 'do something' too. for you who dislike children, you might change your perception after watching this!

a quick synopsis:
it's a story about Handa Seishuu, a renowned young calligrapher with an awkward & prideful attitude. one day an old man veteran on the calligraphy field criticize Handa's award-winning work for being too dull. then Handa snapped and punch that old geezer for dissing his work.
as a self-reflection punishment, his father sent him to a countryside island where he later surrounded by kids and widen his world view.

Story [9/10]
overall it's great! the way they make a wise expression through different points of view is really heartwarming. mixing wisdom from old age and wisdom from children. showing how both sides view the world. the theme of calligraphy itself is also interesting. it will give you a new experience. the comedy fit just good. and the best part is this countryside atmosphere somehow gives you peace of mind.

Art [10/10]
perfect. the animation is great, but what makes me think it's perfect is the calligraphy. i'm not an expert in that field, but after watching this series, i came to think how beautiful calligraphy can be. it will make you realize, behind a great piece-of-art, there's always a journey behind the artwork, that's what makes art really complicated and beautiful.
a good quality artwork is not only about skill and technique, but also the creative process & inspiration of how the artist encounter ideas, a lot of trials and errors until it become a masterpiece. seeing Handa working hard on his passion really admiring & inspiring.

Character [9/10]
**i recommend to watch "Handa-kun", a prequel of Handa's high-school day. it's not related to the main story but you will understand more about Handa's character.*

he's not your usual 'ikemen' type character, for an MC he's quite unusual and awkward, but that's what makes Barakamon really fun and lovely!
the variety of supporting characters also great. it makes you want to believe that a pure-kindhearted-soul person still exist out there~
the silliness between the character is fun and heartening. you'all know how annoying and noisy kids can be, after watching this, i came to believe kids is not all about annoying after all. Sometimes the kids perception in life and their pure-innocence can be a good inspiration and motivation.

Overall [9/10]
what Barakamon lacks: 12eps is too few..
but it's a good series to cheer you up if you're having a bad day!
enjoyable, heartwarming, funny, inspiring, relaxing
it's worth to watch!
