Luckily for me, I adore metaphors so I was intrigued and entertained. However, there are still very tedious parts, especially towards the middle. In fact I considered dropping it but decided against that and I thank my past me for that as I now finally have food for thought during commutes again. This anime may have changed my outlook on the internet.
As others have mentioned, the art and sound design underlines the themes presented and is fitting, while also not forcing itself onto the viewer. I don't find any mentionable flaws in these aspects.
All in all, this anime is very unconventional and hard to digest in many ways but still very enjoyable for the specific audience it caters to. Considering the portrayal of it's themes, I'm lead to see SEL as a poem or painting disguising itself as an anime.
