Plot Summary: A small town boy, Azuma Kazuma, goes to Tokyo to further develop his replacement for rice…his bread, Ja-pan. His dream is to make bread that will one day be unique to Japan, as French bread is unique to France. He has been inventing different kinds of bread since childhood, and finally goes to the big city to apply at the most prestigious bakery in all Japan, but all he really wants is a chance to show the country and the world that Japan can also have its own signature bread. Because of his talents he is thrown into the middle of a battle between the two top bakeries of Japan, but he still sees it as yet another opportunity to make more of his various Ja-pans.
