For me, Mahoutsukai no Yome is one step short of a masterpiece. It's that close. I remember at first being slightly thrown off by the fact that Elias and Chise were meant to have some sort of romance attached to them. It seemed strange to me, but I continued regardless. I am incredibly happy that I did.

Their "romance" (or whatever you'd like to call it since it's hardly that) is quite the interesting relationship, and while I definitely wouldn't call it healthy on all regards, it grows. That is something that I can appreciate. Chise grows from not caring how she thinks of him, to caring, to caring while simultaneously knowing that she won't take anything from him. That's something I think is really beautiful considering what type of life she's lived up until this point.

Chise is a lovely character if I might add. I love how all the characters are written in the show, but her especially. Her growth in attempt to find self love and let things go is something that speaks to me, because while my life is nothing like hers, her fight for self love is relatable and speaks to me. The talk she has with Nevin is a talk that always moves me to tears no matter what, as it's just a reminder that there is always worth in who you are and that you are always making someone happy somewhere.

The sound and art is also quite beautiful. I'm not as much of a fan of the second op and ed as I am with the first, but they are still lovely all in their own right. Overall I would definitely recommend this story to anyone. Everything about it is beautiful from beginning to end and there was not one moment that I wasn't interested in Chise, Elias, or the creativity that this world brings to life.
