I doubt many will come across this anime without having had read the books. The books were amazing and some of my favorite fantasy books I think I've ever read.

Seeing it done in anime was icing on the cake.

If you haven't read the books, I'm not sure if you will like it. It IS kind of slow.

It also has one of the best haunting/beautiful anime songs on its soundtrack, Teru no Uta.
