Disclaimer: This is my first manga review, feel free to ignore this if the way I write disturbs you. (Oh and, spoilers ahead for all of you still watching/reading the original series.)

As I found out fairly recently about the anime, I decided to read up on the spinoff/sequel of Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-San and found myself hooked to this gem of a manga. At the time of writing this I've read only 24 chapters from wherever I could find it, so take it with a grain of salt as this can be easily read within the hour.

Story: 7/10 (good)

As it is just about the interactions of a caring and loving family, there isn't really much story to be told apart from the antics and teasing that reside in the Nishikata household. As it's a spinoff one does not really need to read/watch the manga or anime respectively to understand what's going on. Nothing more I can say, it captures the story of a fun, loving family very well.

Art: 8/10 (very good)

Was just as good as the previous manga, if not better. From what I can tell on this website this is from a different mangaka, but has still managed to capture the essence and bright style of the original.

Characters: 8/10 (very good)

As expected, Karakai Jouzu no (Moto) Takagi-san retains what I and a whole lot of other people loved from the previous installment, and includes the same Nishikata and Takagi we all know and love, acting very much the same, with the exception of being parents. Chii, their daughter, is also a welcome addition to the cast. She's isn't too moe in-your-face cute type of daughter, but provides the perfect blend of naughtiness and young innocence.

Enjoyment: 9/10 (great)

Reading this manga to me was like taking a very hot and well-deserved bath, without the obvious downsides to taking one. It's a very, very nice change of pace from all the shonen/drama manga/anime I've been looking at recently, and honestly made me longing to experience what the characters in the manga were experiencing.

Final Verdict: 8.5/10 (really good)

After all the slow-paced romance and fast-paced action I've been watching recently, Karakai Jouzu no (Moto) Takagi-san was like a breath of fresh air. To me there was almost nothing more relaxing and heartwarming seeing the interactions between mother, father, and daughter joking around with each other and having a good time. If you're here today to find a manga that's lighthearted, fun, and doesn't leave you with any suspense, you've come to the right place.

Enjoy your read.
