Seeing the anime on MAL for the first time, got me excited. I have never read nor heard about the light novel, and therefore the story intrigued me a bit. However, after watching the first episode i learned just how average it is.
While the concept is new, it follows in the fantasy steps such as SAO and Konosuba, and does everything worse than they did.
The animation is nothing to brag about, the sound is mediocre and there seems to be no character development at all. Now bear in mind that this is only for the first 4 episodes, so development might come, however it seems unlikely from how it has developed so far.
But worst of all to me, is the story. While the concept seemed intriguing at first, it never made it through to create a good anime. Smartphone is part of the title, yet the part it plays in the anime is very VERY small. Instead they just decided to make the protagonist strong, making the smartphone obsolete.
There is nothing in the first 4 episodes making this anime worth watching, except that it somehow still manages to be enjoyable. It lacks in every aspect of being a good anime, yet the small skits and interactions between characters still makes it rather fun to watch.
If you are sitting at home, in need of something with a very light mood, and just need a little bit to smile about, then watch it.
Otherwise steer clear of it.
