Preliminary (6/12 eps)

This anime is one of those anime that isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's one of those that is meant to make you relate to the characters and/or give you satisfaction. A very similar anime to this is Himouto! Umaru-chan.

Plot: 5/10
The plot of it is that the MC has been writing a light novel where the illustrator is some unknown person that goes by the name 'Eromanga'. He doesn't realize that Eromanga is actually his little sister (which is not his biological sister). I won't be talking about what happens later because it's kinda spoiler filled. The story focuses on a couple of characters who are all either otakus, authors, publishers or illustrators. Honestly the concept of having a story focused on an otaku character has been done before and is slowly becoming more common. The story is easy to understand (at least for anime fans and/or manga fans) but that's cause it's not complex. I do feel like it has been done before but not in this way (???). I would also like to mention the fat guy that runs between the transitions each episode, I thought that was a nice thing they keep. I gave it a 5 (mediocre) due to it not being something unbelievably original but still not something that's overdone.

Art: 9/10
The art in this is actually very well done. Although due to the art and story most of the time when I was watching this (especially at the scenes when one of the authors is bragging) I kept thinking how the animators felt. I mean they did have to animate this series which makes publishing a work and drawing seem so easy (I mean Eromanga is like 12 and can draw that in like 5 minutes) while the animators probably can't see their family most of the time and almost never get recognition.

Sound: 8/10
I'm not a musician but I do have to admit that the music is quite good. I know it's not Yuri on Ice levels or Your Lie in April levels but is quite fitting for the series.

Character:5/10
The series has quite good characters. Their biggest fault is usually that they are unoriginal or simply unrealistic. When reviewing anime you have to realize that it is animation, so they make everything quite extra (face expressions, emotions, voice acting ect.) to make stuff entertaining. But seriously Eromanga is 12 and can draw that well?! Elf-Yamada is like 14 and is one of the most successful authors in upcoming light novels ?! And how does the MC keep his writing on check and his school life on and manages to have friends?? I feel like this is due to the writers of the show being too old to understand the stuff you can and can't do at a young age. I'm around the age of the characters and I do feel like this is too extra.

Enjoyment:5/10
If it was any other anime I would of dropped it already. But their is after all something pulling me to watch one more episode if you know what I mean. I honestly think it's the hangcliffs at the ends of most of the episodes. BUT HOW? I don't feel attached to the story nor the characters. How is this possible?

BRIEF HISTORY:

pros:
-you might relate to the characters if you're a writer or any type of artist
-the animation is great
-the music is fine
-you get attached to the series somehow
-if you want to get to know anime and manga this might be good for you
-overall it seems like a weird concept but it is pretty relateble to some people

cons:
-the story is pretty boring for the first few episodes
-characters are bland
-honestly if half of the characters weren't lolis this would be such a flop
