91 Days (Anime) add (All reviews)

This is my first review so if you have advice in how to make it better please feel free to tell me.

Spoilers from the first episode ahead

Story [8/10]
91 days takes place during the Prohibition Era in the 1920s in a town called Lawless. Where our protagonist Angelo Lagusa is trying to get revenge on the people that killed his family. Pretty simple right? Is it ground-breaking? No. Is it original? Not really. But the feeling of not knowing what Angelo is going to do next is thrilling. Because if the mc doesn't know what to do next, why should you right?

Art [8/10]

Its nothing special, if I was to describe the art style in 91 days in one word it would be "normal". Despite that though it was really well animated, especially the fight scenes.

Sound

I am going to split sound into three parts, first being the music and the second being the sound effects, and third being the voice actors.

Music [10/10]

Lets start with the OST. It is amazing. No really, it was one of the best soundtracks that I've heard in a while. The intro (Signal by TK) was one of the best intros ever. I still go back sometimes to watch the intro because its that good. The soundtrack really made you feel part of the show. As every piece was as haunting as the last one. From pieces that sounds like it belongs in a church choir from the haunting and dark main theme. 91 days is a story about revenge, and the soundtrack reminds you about that.

Sound [7/10]

Now lets talk about the sound effects. It's good. Nothing much more to say about it. Everything was done well, from the sound of liquor being poured into a glass, to bullets hitting car windows. It's not spectacular, but it was done very well.

Voice Acting [8/10]

I watched the sub first then the dub when it finished airing. The voice acting is good, both subbed and dubbed. As someone who despises watching dubbed I was really impressed at the dubbed voice acting. As the voice actors of the Vanetti family as well as the man characters sounded like they were from a gangster show. Except Fio, that was one of the worst voices I have ever heard.

Sound overall [9/10]

Characters [9/10]

Now to the most important part of the show, the characters. Angelo Lagusa, Nero Vanetti, and Corteo are the three most prominent ones throughout the show.

They say the most dangerous person is someone who has nothing left to lose, and they would be right. Angelo's is a cruel person. He wants to make the people who killed his family feel the same way he's felt for 7 years. He wants to take everything away from them and crush it right in front of his eyes. He's basically a huge sadist. He lives for the sake of getting revenge, nothing else.

"Ohana means family, family means no one gets left behind". This is Nero's character in one sentence. The man is always thinking about his family. Everything he does he does it for the family.

"Starting from today, me and you are brothers Angelo". Corteo is the childhood friend of Angelo who wants to see him happy again. Even if it means helping him kill people, that's a good friend. There is really no character development for Corteo other than the first episode, nothing much to say about him without spoiling really.

Enjoyment [9/10]

This is one of my favorite shows to date. Enough said

Final words
So who would enjoy show?

Do you like revenge stories?
Do you like dark animes?
Do you enjoy violence?
Do you like classical music?
Do you care if the story isn't set in Japan?
Do you watch dubbed?
Do you watch subbed?
Do you like onions being cut under your eyes?
Are you a sadist?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider the watch. All jokes aside Angelo's revenge story was an absolute blast to watch.
