Some episodes have more ups then downs just like the opposite.
What I recommend to do is marathon, the anime have four arcs, so if you see one at a time you probably gonna have a good experience.
I don't have claims about story, art, sound or characters. I think Subaru is one of the most humans characters, he fails, he's not perfect, he tries to be "The Guy" but he's not and the anime show this cleanly. At the same time is good to see how he grows up over time, have sometimes this is gonna be extremely boring, and the only thing you gonna think is "Bull....". As I said it's a anime of ups and downs.
The first and third arcs are the best for me, the last is fair, but wants more then can do and the second is horrible and unnecessary. The construction of the main character it's good, but fail in the constructions of others and some things are flimsy.
It's more impressive then good, but isn't all a bad work, so I give an 8.
