Naoki was a huge jerk the entire anime to Kotoko. I know there was some instances like when it was her birthday or when she was in the hospital where he really showed that he loved her, but that was a side of him that you rarely get to see. He never paid attention to Kotoko or helped her with her studies when she was trying to earn good grades and impress him.
I got severely annoyed a lot throughout this anime with his negative attitude. Don't get me wrong, it was a good anime to watch and there was a lot of funny parts to it. I was just expecting Naoki to change once he married Kotoko, but it didn't happen so I was a little disappointed.
