As someone who has never been to Japan, and has had relatively few encounters with anyone of Japanese descent, I know that my opinion on this is of little consequence, but I feel that I must put it out there. This show is a work of art, plain and simple. The slight nods towards the effect that the atomic bombing had on Japan were harrowing and, I can't stress this part enough, necessary. For us consumers of anime from outside of Japan, we cannot fathom the daily reminders as to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagisaki, and more than anything, it is a pattern amongst man to forget about the atrocities of yesterday. To forget is unforgivable. We need more shows like this, in Japan, and from all kinds of media, that remind us both where we come from, and how we can move forward. If you're reading this, wanting a number rating, I have to say 10/10 would watch it again. As to how many will be ensnared by the story in the same way that I was, I cannot say, but if you have the time to watch this, I would beg that you do. It will not be a waste of your time, and I have no doubt that if you put in the time to watch this show with an open mind, you'll be as moved as I am, even a week after having finished.
