Barakamon is one of the best slice of life animes i have ever seen and really has a captivating interesting story. The music is good for setting moods and the art is way better than the newer show Handa-Kun. (not really spoiler because you will see in like beginning of first episode)The art really fits this slice of life and really brings out the love and happiness that the small village has and how close everyone is. The art is really easy on the eyes and makes you feel relaxed and happy. It is not off the charts but it is beautiful.
The characters are so unique and not only the main character ever single character is something else they are developed well and don't fail to support Handa all the way through. Handa made me cry a few times i wont lie he is such an amazing character and he would be an awesome person in real life. You feel very close to Handa and the emotions that character have for each other come out clearer than day. Even characters who are introduced for short while become quiet likeable and you can understand who they are and what they are to Handa and they are not forgotten easily.
A good example is the Handa's mom who is important to Handa and explains her position and how much she cares about him. She also is very understanding, yet stubborn and unable to have her son change from just a loving kid.
Besides that this show is just awesome it is not just an anime you watched because you have free time its an anime you want to give attention too and skip your summer homework and use your work time you planned for your self to stay up and do your homework but you spent it all watching Barakamon because you cant control yourself, because it makes you fall in love with it once you start.
