Preliminary (4/12 eps)
This review only applies for the first 4 episodes of the series, it does not constitute for the overall experience of the anime itself and it will be comprised of what I liked/disliked about the anime and the reason I have had dropped it for.

So, as for what I actually liked in the series the only thing I can say is the animation. Specifically what I liked about it is the way they approached animating some of the action scenes where for instance there's a saw going through the main girl's blood sword and with blood spraying all over and mostly other stuff involving her powers. There are still things like overly excessive super flashy powers with colorful bullshit around, you know, things that shows with good animation are often praised for, even when it looks nothing short of generic and just an easy choice overall because when people run out of ideas for what to happen in an action scene, throw in some high budget colors. By this I mean something that looks really flashy to convey something threatening or powerful going on. Because the only way to convey something is powerful is to create super flashy bullshit, especially in something with supernatural powers. Generally the series looked solid outside of the one time where it resolved to doing that, but keep in mind, that I ain't willing to check going forward so... you're on your own if you actually dislike seeing that. I kinda doubt you will, since this is more of a thing that bothers only me.

Anyway... now lets start with what I disliked most about the series. The characters are fucking terrible... This is the cast of characters. Main character, has a fetish for glasses, main girl character, wears glasses, is a klutz, side male character, wants to fuck his sister, which is considered a fetish and the actual sister who is the MC's best friend and can only be defined as a kink shamer. Fucking amazing cast of characters.

While the story does try to tell a story, it legitimately does, the personalities of these 4 and the hijinks the story tries to carry through which is basically yo I wanna fuck glasses, yo I prefer my sister, call me onii-chan etc is fucking appaling. The only time the humor tried a somewhat different joke was when the main character got a call from his mother through magic and she was dressed as a cat girl. Yup... The arc I've seen, which pretty much seems to have settled in these 4 episodes, did develop a relationship between the main character and girl with glasses which with actual dialogue, could've been interesting because from a story telling perspective, as far as things were laid out, the show knows how to do it. It does. It builds up the backstory of main girl, drew parallels between the main character and her, explained why they would help each other and so on. Of course there are some terrible leaps of logic at the beginning (You're immortal, a girl tries killing you as in she stabs you, you're probably in pain. Who the fuck would talk casually to anyone that does that? Let alone want to help her wholeheartedly with anything?) but the way the relationship developed made sense if you ignore my paranthesis.

Basically the comedy of the show ruins the story but I can see some basics in the way of telling the story are set up in what I've seen and they seem solid. Too bad they're wasted on logic gaps because the world wasn't explained or perhaps poorly thought out and terrible fetishistic comedy that take away from the story. I mean, I suppose that sort of comedy has its audience but you're trying to tell a serious story, at least it looks like you do. And it's not like you can't have comedy and also a serious story, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that the story tries to settle a relationship between two characters, of which one understand what the other endures and tries helping them through it and it does this well. All that then is undermined in the next scene where the main character will say "I wanna fuck glasses yay bifocals woooooooooo" because realistically, nobody will just all of a sudden be like "I see this person struggling and I wanna help them because I relate to them." to "Who needs gloryholes when you can fuck someone through glasses with a missing lense?" without even mentioning your concern for this person to your apparently one and only friend. There are other shows who mostly deal in shenanigans for a while but when things get serious, the story does not underwhelm the seriousness of those things. It does not scoff at them.

Also the story does have some cliches, but compared to other things, they hardly matter.

The one other thing I didn't talk about is the sound which I didn't really notice, since the series has the fantasy genre and I played quite a bunch of video games fitting that area, I'll just pin it on that and say the reason I didn't notice the OST is due to that and call it average.

Anyway for the story, I can't really recommend the show to you. But if the fetishistic humor sounds like a plus to you, maybe that will help you with seeing the story in a different way than me. The show isn't ecchi, so don't expect that, expect it only as something meant to be humorous, not sexual. Other than that, I got nothing. The fighting scenes while animated well, that's the only praise I can give them, really. There's no sense of urgency because you already know how they're gonna go or is there anything particularly fresh or exciting about them other than the animation choices. The story I already talked about and yeah. You do you. Ultimately the show's humor didn't phase me and took away from the story that already had some logic gaps.
