Mixed Feelings
Now that I've finally become a part of this site, I might as well get started, and what better to review first than my gateway anime?

Digimon Adventure holds a really special place in my heart. I still adore the story and characters, who were all really well-developed for a kids show. However, when it comes to looking at it critically, which I try to do with reviews, and how the first season of Digimon holds up against the rest of all the anime out there... It can't be ignored that this was a dirt-poor show. The character designs were simple, the backgrounds pastel blurs...

And then there were a few dub-only problems... Some may not think it fair to include them, but as I watched this show (and continue to rewatch this show) in English, these problems can't be ignored when I go to sum up my view of this show. The opening and English soundtrack has got to be one of the most grating things I've ever heard in an anime. Maybe this is fitting for their target audience, but it's something I enjoy less and less the more I hear it. I've come to know the English voice cast as being some really talented actors and actresses, but the English script for this show was a little painful, riddled with bad puns that made me cringe more often than laugh.

Looking back, this feels really harsh, because I do still love this show. It was the show that introduced me to anime more than 10 years ago now, and flaws aside, it is still a show I can watch over and over again, if only for nostalgic value.
