A few years ago I took a break from watching anime, I guess I just got tired of all the similar stuff and felt like there was nothing new. About 2 years passed and I saw a video review about a show called Black Lagoon, and I am so happy that I found it.

I will try not to include any spoilers in this review it will cover seasons 1,2 and the OVA.

Story: Normally action anime have a very similar story and are pretty relatable, however when it came to Black Lagoon it was nothing extraordinary but the way the story flowed really worked for me. Some anime series start of slow, very slow, but in this case I got hooked in right from the first episode.

Art: The art style is nothing special compared to today's anime series, but for the series age it stands up fairly well. When the show wants to look well it does a ******* good job at it, and I am truly grateful for all of the action scenes.

Sound: I think you should just listen to the opening of the show and you can judge for yourself as sound is a very subjective category. The gun shot sounds gave a real bang and it stood out. I would also like to thank Maryke Hendrikse for her role as Revy, her performance will always be one of my favourites, hands down.

Characters: Revy is one of my favourtie characters of all time, hands down. I was getting tried of the cliche female character that depends on others and then busted in Revy. She is not afraid to do anything and is a total ******. The number one thing I liked about her is her character development, the show really gives you something to understand her and where she is coming from. Rock is another character I really enjoyed. I found him to be really relatable aswell, however I was not a big fan of him towards the end of the second season. However I think Rock and Revy are one of the best duo's in anime. Almost every other character in Black Lagoon is a total ******, nothing else to say. Just watch the show to see how awesome they are.

Conclusion: About 2 years have passed since I have seen Black Lagoon and I thought it was my favourtie anime, and it still is. Nothing I have seen since has made me feel the same way about Black Lagoon.

If you just watch Black Lagoon for its action and straight in your face pacing, you will enjoy the show. *But* if you watch the show and pay attention to the character development and the story you will *truly* love this anime.
