Nana (Anime) add (All reviews)
Aug 11, 2015
To be honest I thought this anime was a musical lesbian love story and I already wasn't expected to be blown away. Then after finishing all 47 episodes and still craving for more that I realized this is probably the best drama and slice of life anime I have watched so far.

I am not very creative at words so I will keep my review short but clear as I can.

STORY:
The story is about 2 girls both named Nana, namely Nana Komatsu(Bimbo Nana) and Nana Osaki(Punk rockstar Nana) who met 1 fateful day on train heading to Tokyo and that's where their wonderful and painful story unfolds throughout the series.

The whole story is long so I won't cover everything that happens in the story.

The presentation of the story is very good for me as it gives a nostalgic vibe because the whole story is presented as a reminscing of both Nanas' story together through letters written to each other and you will realize that sometime in their time together their friendship was shattered and had never seen each other for a long time.

Not only does this anime have a good presentation of its story, it also deals with realistic problems that people will encounter in college to adulthood like choosing your major, unemployment, cheating your partner, love problems and etc. which is why I can connect to the people in the story and can understand what that they are going through which is rare to find in an anime.

In short the story is all about having dreams of being successful, love life, loneliness, true friendship, big decisions in life and responsibility.

ART:
Nothing special and I'm not pleased that everyone drawn thin and tall resulting in everyone having the same body type.

MUSIC:
The anime has a subplot of music after all so of course its very good and I never skipped the opening and ending songs and I can say it is definitely better than most anime songs.

CHARACTERS:
The series has also well developed and believable characters but I'm just gonna focus on the 2 Nanas of the series as it would take too long if I include the others.

I'll start with Bimbo Nana.Throughout the series Nana has made so many stupid decisions that she has hurt herself and people who care about her, it made me cringe everytime she does this but I couldn't hate her in the end as she is really a good a person at heart annd it's just that she made some bad choices in life which I can understand at some degree.

Next is Rockstar Nana. Throughout the series it is shown that she feels betrayed after her boyfriend who is also a fellow band member decides to leave the band for a better band in Tokyo. With this experience she decides to be a strong independent woman but the anime shows that despite that it is a facade she is still hurting inside and still can't let go of her boyfriend. Rockstar Nana may appear cold but as shown in the series she is also a good person like Bimbo Nana who always wish for the best for their friends.

The meeting of this two characters is the best part in the series as it shows them having a deep friendship which experiences both the good and the bad.

All in all I can say that every character in the series is believable and there is no moment that I felt like I'm watching anything superficial and boring.

OVERALL:
This genre isn't even what love and yet this is one of the best anime series I have ever watched and recommend this to anyone who likes drama and slice of life without the too much melodrama or forced melodrama that makes most of that genre unrealistic/superficial.
