Nisekoi (Anime) add (All reviews)

Doki doki doki doki. I understand this as the written sound effect of a beating heart. It was my normal beat. When walking and sleeping, that rhythmic sound is what I'm familiar with, but curiously, different as I watch Nesikoi. Doki do- doki. Skipping beats, my heart does, as I watch along, scenes after scenes, portraying an interesting mixes of characters. It skips as these unsuspected meetings in the story takes place. Then the beating would be like as if I were running 2000 miles non stop (lets assume I'm still alive by then) as the main characters talk. Misunderstanding, Jealousy, Wants, Likes usually interplay in between. Afterwards, with a held breath expectation, I would laugh. It was frequent enough that if you were listening beside me as I watch, you could probably hear all sorts of laughs a person could possibly create. All-out laugh, sad laugh, happy laugh (?), as well as creepy laugh (that laugh goes like, "he... he... he...", just remembering this made laugh)

== Story ==

Yakuzas and gangs would play as a base motivation for the boy and the girl (the blond one). As they were forced to act a play to please the people around, and so avoid a deadly disaster, the couple would learn loads of things. And since this is primarily a romance dominating series, the learning would be directed to their innocent untrained hearts (woot!). Every episodes were interesting, same as each chapter in this manga version. Most episodes sometimes end with a cliffhanger, leaving you wanting.

== Art ==

The animation was unreal. There were stars up above a character's head after he/she is in a daze, some impossible scenes to depict emotions. To me, there would be no other way for Nesikoi to be better other than this style of animation. Introductions and close ups would include a 3d-like imaging for the character's person, thus maximizing their cuteness as much as possible. Though there is a kind of similarity in them. If you get rid of the hair, clothing, color, eyes, 99%, you'd have a hard time differentiating each. But of course, this is no news to me. This is anime.

== Sound ==

There are a lot of great things to say about the sound in this series. With my novice but vast experience as an anime fan, I believe the sound ranks as one of my top 3. Those solo instruments playing at the background for the sweetest scenes and hilarious comedy bits. Wow. I've observed in other series overdoing it with the sound, but not Nesikoi. If a punch is coming in the act, the sound people (yes, I'm ignorant to the right term) somehow finds the perfect fit, for a serious one or a comedic approach. It was a major factor in this series' success/charm.

== Character ==

The boy knows how to cook. With dozens of yakuzas vacating his house, all brawl and muscles, the boy was provided with the job to cook for them, making him good at it. And like any other cooking-capable dudes, he depicts a self-reliant character, with loads of chances in the series, he practices this as he helps, advices them gals in distress. I think he has bad, perhaps average grades.

The blond-girl (BG) is tomboyish, but later, her character would unravel. Showing all pink, girlish colors beneath. She has a character that is approachable, unintimidating aura but was not the case at the start.

The short-haired girl (SG) has a perfect, friendly neighborhood kind of vibe. She is the most shy of the girls that ever existed in this series, I believe. Together with her best friend, she would initiate confessions and lots of close calls that would always fail. Making us viewers pause, full of exhilarating imagination of what would happen next.

There is no need for me to say how much shyness these characters incorporate. Though sure, one or two would project a well-built confidence, most of them here are shy, sometimes dull, incapable of taking hints. But what could be expected. Other kinds of characters would only see this story an abrupt, short end.

== Enjoyment ==

half part funny and half part romance, creating a full part riot. Every episode was drug against boredom. Memorable and re-watchable. Teenagers would surely love this, excluding of course those that don't. Kids still not in the character's grade-level would perhaps look forward to a possible romance, drama experience in the near future.

But one thing that keeps bugging me in the corner of my mind as I come to like every characters in this series. I only hope there is a happy ending in everyone of them. This is a great challenge for the writer I believe and since the manga is still an ongoing translation, I'm hopeful still.
