This anime is a combination of:
- BDSM (Lots of Master/Slave stuff: whipping, humiliation etc)
- Magic & Mystery (Normal guy gets dragged into a magician world by force)
- Character Development (Hey its 4 seasons of this)
- Love & Harem (Lots of it, on a daily basis)
Those are the ones I remember. Anyway this anime is one of my favorites. Because of the sheer volume of episodes ranging through four seasons, the series is greatly developed and so is the story. The story is okay I guess, there are lot of shitty concepts like "Gandalf". Really author, you couldn't come up with a better name so you snatched Gandalf from LOTR? Why? How does it even relate to this anime? The guy fights with a sword and doesn't yell "You shall not pass" anywhere. But anyway.
IMO the anime excels because of the sheer harem and love story development. The action is good as well, but not to the degree that I'd say its awesome. But the love & drama part? Its non-sense times ten with a scent of jealousy and lots of bdsm.
Louise is loud, dumb, proud and very very jealous. She tries to shackle and bind Saito in anyway possible. In every episode there is an angry scene of some kind where Saito is being beaten for the "Ero Inu" that he is and yelled upon. I'm sure he is sadomasochistic, otherwise there wouldn't be 4 seasons of this. Though as the anime matures more and more, so does the beating part of it as well. And because its a harem, with each season Saito's harem gets bigger and bigger but he never stops loving Louise and that's how the anime ends. IMO, this is a BDSM marriage mixed with vanilla standards. Idk if that makes sense, probably not.
I highly recommend this anime. It will make you laugh to tears, over and over.
But you will also bond with it and hook on it. Despite Louise being a time-bomb and Saito being a sadomasochistic pervert, you will like both of them. And if you don't, well its just not your cup of tea.
