Durarara!! is a show with an interesting (to me, anyway) premise. The idea is that people's lives are all intertwined and we all affect each other in some way or another. We really see this as the characters are brought together in each other's lives. Minor characters were introduced to emphasize this point.
Art: 8
The art was very good, I liked it. I'm no artist but it was nice to look at.
Sound: 9
That first opening is the best, it's playing in my head as I write this, actually. The upbeat sound and the use of the colors through it was very well-done.
Character: 10
Now, the characters, my favorite part. First of all, I think Anri is the most awesome character in Durarara!! because of her complicated nature. Her whole backstory and personality just drew me in. That's not to say that the other characters were any less interesting, not at all. Then there's Izaya. Oh, my. Where do I start? I'll start with my feelings on him. I hate him, but find him interesting. I hate his sadistic, manipulative nature, but that's what makes him so interesting. The way he can talk to people, now that's something else.
Enjoyment: 10
This show was extremely enjoyable; I thought it was outstanding! I was hooked by the first episode and I wish there was more time in a day, because if there was, I would have watched that entire season in one day. That's how much I loved it and its cliffhangers in all. The cliffhangers made me click the "next" button with fervor.
Overall: 9
Durarara!! was great, fantastic, wonderful, and many other positive adjectives. The only thing I didn't care for was the gangs, but I'm glad the characters enabled me to look past that. I actually enjoyed seeing the struggle between the powers after a while, which was a relief because I was afraid that my indifference to the street gangs would interfere with my enjoyment of the show. I'm happy that it didn't.
