The "sequel" of 4 episodes is instrumental in the judging of this series.
In the judging of any show, the ending is of utmost importance. It can sink or save the entire show.
And in the case of Kokoro Connect, it saves it.

7.4/10

Now that all the blind pesants have stopped reading, let me explain what I really meant by that.
First of, I enjoyed this show. I really did, and I've sort of lost alot of intrest in romcoms yet STILL managed to like it. When I started watching it, I believed 100% that this would be just another regular romcom contaning the same exact formula.
(If you have to ask what formula, this review is not for you.)
It does contain traces of it, but that is forgivable. And that should tell you alot, if i have to forgive an anime because of it's genre and it's still a 7.4, you'll probably like it if you're into said genre.

The setting and story is your average japanese highschool heaven were a bunch of "normal"(as normal as maincharacters get) highschool kids experience supernatural events like body-switching and mind-reading. This in turn acts as a catalyst for all of the character developement throughout the show.

Where the show fails me is when (way too often(like, constantly!)) plot-points would resolve out of the most extreme sheer convenience. And that shit bugged the crap out of me. It's like the show want's to show you reality but then ultimately pulls out to quick and comes all over you with unicorns, shiny rainbows, and magic-happiness which rates everything it touches PG-8.

-Eh, you don't like MrAssholeAbusive-kun? Well neither do I! Let's solve this problem we've been talking about for several episodes with a 2 second off-screen ass-kicking!
-B-but he's been a major focal point of the story for so long, should we really insult the viewers by resolving something this important like it was so easy it makes you wanna puke?
-Fuck yeah WorstGirl-chan!

At the end of it, Kokoro Connect gets two ratings.
8/10 if I compare it to every other romcom (and temporarily forget the existence of Toradora and Clannad)
7/10 if I don't compare it to shi- other shows.

And keep in mind that I'm not an avid romcom fan. If you like romcoms you'll like Connect, it does alot of things atleast semi-correctly, which is more than I've come to expect from this type of show.
