Well actually it’s more or less about a young and simple girl who’s only just learnt about the act of copulation (sex) and quickly gains an interest in it. This small interest soon evolves into a desire to experience it for oneself and who else to bring our pure, innocent girl into the adult world than her own loving Onii-chan. What awaits the couple of immoral siblings, beyond this forbidden Door of Fascination? Well why don’t you find out for yourself if you dare to cross the line, as these two have, and how it occurs is indeed fascinating. The way in which one thing leads to another is what I consider a major appeal to this story, however the story doesn’t come without its annoyances.
If you can bypass these annoyances then you’re bound to enjoy the story along with its interesting characters, how few they may be. Seeing how the sibling’s relationship slowly matures into something un-sibling-like is fascinating in itself however it would have been better if the little sister had more of a personality and if the older brother was fleshed out a bit more.
Overall Door of Fascination (Miwaku no Tobira) is just as I said… a truly fascinating read, with some short stories following the major one. Of course the artwork is good enough to help immerse you in the sensual story and however simple the artwork may be, it certainly does the job during the hardcore moment. Although the sex scenes cannot mask the fact that it ended leaving several issues that should have been dealt with (like the older brother’s supposed girlfriend). Even when taking into account all of its faults I’d still consider this as one of the best manga to tackle the incestuous romance theme. I don’t know what’s up with the Japanese and their craving for incestuous romance but this is certainly a cut above the rest.
