I would have given a perfect 10 across the board, but there were some parts at the end that would have been better explained in more detail. Not to say the ending wasn't good. I think the ends pretty much perfectly for the way the series was laid out, but once you watch it you'll understand what I mean. I think the story should get about a 9.5 because dispite the parts that were left out I think any story that can move you to both laughter and tears and make you feel for the characters really deserves a high rating.
The art and sound both get 10s in my book. They work wonderfully together and really enhance the mood and feel of the show.
I gave 10s to the character development and the enjoyment factor of the show as well. It's very easy to get attached to the characters in this show from the goofy ones (Grell) to the incredibly serious and slightly depressed ones (Ceil).
Overall, I give it a 10. This is one of the few anime that I've given a 10 to and I think it deserves it. I hope you check it out! ;)
