The weapons in here were stuff that blew my mind as a kid and still kinda do now. The music is some of the stuff that got my hooked on OSTs (The Opening and Ending Songs especially) and the characters are some of the people that got me hooked on anime. I'll admit, I needed to watch it again a few years later to fully grasp the storyline, but once I did it just made the series that much better
All-in-all, I think this is still one hell of an anime. Just don't view any scenes in the ship with your mom if she's one of the overprotective types and/or you want to avoid any awkward moments. Just take it from me
