It's horribly melodramatic, but that's not really my issue with it. My main problem is that the writing lacks any basic common sense.
Everyone is way too accepting of the fact that Jinta can see this ghost, even if they don't believe him. Jinta never supplies any proof, even though it's readily available (The ghost- Menma- is literally making steamed bread that they're eating for christ's sake).
Menma even hugs or touches the characters, with Jinta watching. And Jinta doesn't bother to say "oh by the way SHE'S HUGGING YOU RIGHT NOW! SHE'S FUCKING HUGGING YOU." Instead he just lets them say "oh I feel chilly all of a sudden. What is this weight on my shoulders?" Get the hell out of here Jinta, you are literally the worst character ever.
No one ever asks the natural questions 100% of us would ask in that situation. No one is even interested. It's infuriating to watch.
