Non Non Biyori is the kind of Slice-of-Life/Comedy you can just sit down, relax, and call it a day watching. Just why is that?
THE STORY is nothing to write home about. Every episode however brings a bit of character development and makes you love these girls... and the awkwardly silent brother... What you have is a very big for her age fifth grader who moved from Tokyo into the country. She learns what its like to not have anything around but develops something special as a result. FRIENDSHIP. Every episode you see a bit build on this foundation between these lovely girls.
THE ART is specially good. You can see every feeling promoted through the artwork. I specifically love the way Hotaru is drawn. Not to mention Renge a close favorite. Even the side characters were drawn well. If you like the modern day art you will love these.
THE SOUND for the the voice acting is great. There isn't a single voice actor that turned me off while watching the series. Well, maybe just one. The brother of the Koshigaya's, Suguru. (This was a joke and you would have to watch to understand.)
CHARACTER development was probably the best category here. The way the story developed all 4 of these girls each episode showed their budding friendship to the world. It makes you learn who admires who. The personalities of those around them. It even explores side characters like Candy Store and Renge's past.
ENJOYMENT is satisfactory. This is the type of anime I can just turn on and casually watch while I fall asleep. Everything is cute, makes you smirk, and occasionally laugh. It's definitely worth the watch on a bored cold day inside. For the slice-of-life's fans it's possibly near the top of the list.
